Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to announce that the 7th International Symposium on the Molecular Breeding of Forage and Turf (MBFT) will be held June 4-7, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.

Forage and turf grasses produce feed for livestock, protect and conserve soil and water resources, create a habitat for wildlife, and provide recreational spaces for sport and leisure. Renewable biomass energy is increasingly being accepted as a possible alternative to fossil fuels, and some forages are promising as energy crops. The purpose of this symposium is to present and deliberate on issues relating to molecular breeding technologies of forage, biofuel, and turf crops including assessment of genetic diversity, improved breeding, discovery of novel genes and elucidation of genetic mechanisms, genetic mapping, establishment of molecular marker assisted selection, comparative genomics, bioinformatics, transgenics, and risk assessment.

The venue for the symposium is the newly renovated Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center. Please follow the links on this page for lodging, meeting registration, scientific and social program, guest programs, and other information. Links not currently active will be opened in the next few months.

We are looking forward to meet you and your colleagues at the 7th international molecular breeding of forage and turf conference. Please contact Shaun Bushman, or any of the local organizing committee for further questions or information.

Sincerely,

The MBFT 2012 Local Organizing Committee,
